This is exceptional, for just five hours of work!! I am mesmerized by the beard alone - hair is SUCH an incredibly difficult thing to do and not many people get it right. Even when all the rest of their image is stunning - you get to the hair and it's typically a bit of a disappointment because most people (and I'm guilty of this as well) translate hair as a series of very hard, unrealistic lines. But that beard is soooooo perfect it LOOKS like it can be shaved and groomed! I'm in awe of that beard. You almost achieved that with the hair - the striations are just the tiniest bit too separate and hard. Hair, on the head especially, is always more of an impressionistic thing than a literal translation and you almost got that perfectly. SO - pat yourself on the back! Really. Not even the very best artists can get that and you were near flawless here.
The eyes. are. amazing. You have not just recreated the image, but somehow you have managed to capture the angst and the conflict Aragorn carried around inside him. Do you know what I mean by that?? In other words - your eyes are not flat. They are not two dimensional. You see that in a lot of portraits. These eyes have a real and beautiful energy behind them. Just magnificent.
The only other thing I would suggest is that you not blend parts of the image when the rest of it isn't because it actually creates a disconnect. The hair was nearly perfect, but when you get to the bottom bits - it fades into the background. So you have effectively done a "trick of the camera" by warping field of depth and putting foreground and back ground on the same plane. Aragorn is so vibrant and alive here BECAUSE he stands out against the background. It almost looks like you realized halfway through that that was not the thing to do. And sometimes we don't wanna fix those things because we don't wanna risk ruining the piece.
I have to give this a 6. Just the energy and emotion that comes through is so perfect and you really were true to the original reference for the most part. And it shows just how creative and how close to technically accurate we can get when we learn to see. Ziggy is another one of those artists who gets hair amazingly perfectly. I have often looked at her Tournament entry with Dylan in the forrest and just stared at that hair, trying to get that feeling for it into my subconscious. If you can master hair - you can master anything.
No words can describe the awe I have for this. The eyes are so real and alive, as well as the lines and creases of his face. I really have nothing more to say than that this is one of the best works I've seen for awhile.
and iScribbler .. the artist took 5+ hours to draw this.. if PiaShantee wanna take a few minutes to make a detailed comment and not a lazy one like yours I agree with her + looking at your own pictures imho you don't even deserve opening your mouth for such useless comment.
OH MY GOD!!! IM SPEACHLESS!!! I TOOK AN SS OF THIS IN THE MOVIE AND IT LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME!! This is soo good when i was looking through i thought "That has to be uploaded!" But it isnt and you have mastered the art of this piece its brill. great. Im speechless. In 5 hours you have done this, I wouldnt be ableto- truffully i couldn't, not in 10 hours not in 10 days (well more chance of 10 days then 5 hours!). I have watched the film about 2 or 3 times and this looks like the part. You have all the detail and its great!
The coloring and shading is stunning, the only thing that bothers me is the eyes, one is a little too high for the other, but that's the only critique I'd give.
